Whether you’ve been writing about wine for a decade or just like to post on Instagram, share your thoughts and experience! #winewriting#democratizewine
Wine writing intimidated me. If I make it tooo educational I always end up w someone in my DMs correcting me. But, if I have fun w it, and compare the wines to other art it's always received well.
Currently working on writing a book about amphora, tinajas, qvevri.... The general use of clay and wine and it's INTIMIDATING.
You're getting a rough draft when it comes out. Lol I figured it was better to write about clay and then talk about the cool people using it and the history rather then go straight into eastern europe only.
I definitely struggle with how I write in regards to my audience. I want my writing to appeal to both industry and non industry audiences. I often find myself thinking "is this piece too nuanced for non- industry audience?" And "is this piece too simple/ basic for industry professionals?"
Does anyone else think / write this way??
Yes, to this! I have an eclectic audience (on Instagram) that appreciates wine content but there’s a big spectrum in regards to wine knowledge. I always end up catering to the friends with less knowledge. I always think it’s good to bring everyone along, that way you retain your audience. I feel like industry professionals get it, and who knows? Maybe some of the foundational things you are saying teach the seasoned pros something new! ;)
